The Journey of Liquid Gold

2021

The Journey of Liquid Gold questions the relationship between humans and farm animals with a focus on the industrialization of the honey bee during the last century. This interdisciplinary project brings together different approaches to the honeybee from a variety of research fields, including economics, food science, biology, and design theory. The exhibition of the research’s results is equally interdisciplinary. It combines documentary photography with artistic photographs and sculptures made of honey.

The magazine accompanying the exhibition is also of special significance, as it features connected scientists from various disciplines through an open call. They have all written an essay on the subject of honey or honeybees. Their texts are juxtaposed with the artistic documentary photographs from Mexico and Germany.
